mar 100/perez - Final Blog

Marketing is the process of planning and executing the conception, pricing, promotion, and distribution of ideas, goods services, organization, and events to create and maintain relationships that will satisfy individual and organized objectives.

When it comes to marketing there is a lot to think about and do to get your business running successfully.

Planning is where it all begins in marketing
Promotion is a one of the key elements in marketing

To be successful in marketing you have to know how to price your item
proper Distribution is one of the last but not least importing marketing tools

In this class i have learned far more that i thought i would. I honestly did not know what marketing was until now. There are a lot of elements needed to have a successful company and with the tools i learned here i know heading in the right direction to opening my open business.

<~~~This will be me soon ; )

On a final note i just want to thank you for being a great professor. Your class was a challenge and i enjoyed it! It gave us a little taste of the real business world.

As the semester comes close to a end there is only one thing that we have discussed in class that I'm still not sure on, the future of GM. I must admit i had very little interest in cars before this class. If there was any news about a automaker good or bad i just wasn't int rested. Now that i am thinking out side of the box i wonder what will really happen to GM. Through this class i have seen and learned about GM cars, its history and founders, their past success and recent troubles i wonder what will happen to the worlds largest automaker. Even though i must say foreign cars are a little more of my taste i would want GM to do any worst than they are doing now. They supply work to a millions of people and the economy will take a hit if General Motors takes a hit. So the question remains will they get a bail out? There is no final answer but i must say that i will be interested in the answer even after this class is over.

Packaging is one of my favorite things about Christmas. Its the first thing the person sees before getting to the gift. If you have a pretty packaged gift it brings up the value of the gift regardless of what it is. Its also one of my trademarks to have the prettiest packaged gifts under the tree. i was trying to think of new ideas this year of what to do and i came across these ideas that i liked because they all include reusing materials that are already around the house.

news papers with a bright ribbons is a cute look!

brown paper bag with a cut out pic from a mag or old Christmas cards with nice lace is the idea that i will be using this year!!

Plastic bags shown here or Tissue paper or other colored papers that you might have around the house

There a new Verizon Christmas commercial that i saw today which i thought was pretty cleaver. Its Christmas morning and the family is by the tree opining their presents. When the "dad" opened his gift from "mom" it was one of Verizon new phones. He thanks his wife and she says something like" wait there's more". That's when the phone re wraps its self and she says its also a camera, it re wraps its self and she says its also a mp3 player and then finally he unwraps the phone and its a GPS system. It shows all the different things their new phone can do by displaying that its four things in one.

With the holidays approaching fast and the economy not being at its best coupons is a trend that is coming back. Even online shoppers are able to take advantage of coupon when making their purchase on the web. Retailers use the coupon sites as marketing tools. "For example, when Scott Kluth founded CouponCabin in 2003, he had discounts for only 180 stores, and many of them did not like it. Today, 1,300 merchants, including Dell, Target, Home Depot and Victoria's Secret, send him discount codes -- totaling about a thousand a week."

a few good online spots that have coupons

While the prices of phones seem to go up and up one thing that has gone down is the price of the service. The price of wireless telephone services dropped 31.6 percent during the past decade, while the price of long-distance telephone calls fell 23.1 percent.

Times Square is like ad central there not a building with out a ad if not multiple ads on it.

This i thought was very funny a ad for a car on a train.

the yellow cab ad advertises to us on every street in NYC.

My favorite type of advertising when I'm on vacation on the beach to a local hang out spot.

The big three as they call them returned in front of congress yet again today to plead for a bailout loan. This time around the three GM, Ford and Chrysler game with a better game plan this time around. They arrived to Washington DC in Hybrid cars instead of private jets and had well prepared evidence to present. The three CEOs even agreed to all to cut their pay to $1 a year if they get the federal help they are looking for. Thats's not the only thing thats different this time, The loan numbers seem to have increased to 34 billion dollars. One thing that was the same was the same pleas and reminders of the big economy hit we would encounter if they dont get these loans. We still have to wait for final answers.

They got me today! i saw a few ads that said 50% sale at Toys r us. i had some extra cash and so i went down there to see if i could get some names off the list. When i got down there the excitement went cold fast because when i got the paper for what was on sale it was no bigger than one page of a news paper. what a disappointment! i ended up getting some things because i was already there but nothing was on sale.

Whats going up as the economy goes down? Spam, yup that right the cheap canned meat has been seen great demands on their product over the last year. Its like history repeats itself, Spam was very popular during the last recession. another product that is going up in sales sadly are cigarettes. Many Americans have started to smoke again or are increasing their smoking because of the stress of the recession.

The Cadillac Escalade was named US most stolen vehicle. It seems like theives like big flashy car as much as Americans do. The 07 ESV was the highest theft clammed vehicle. it was said to be more than 15 times more likely to be stolen even when compared to the Mercedes E Class Sedan which is a luxury vehicle. "The Escalade has been the star of the show with car thieves for the better part of the decade," says Russ Rader, an IIHS spokesperson. "It has pop-culture appeal, and thieves are attracted to it." Now this shows that we live in a world of wants not needs.
